2024/2025

On Sunday 23 March 2025 there was yet more Semi-Final disappointment for our Men's team this time in the Wessex League after they were beaten by St.Andrews.  A great effort from all involved, like a phoenix we will rise again and try to go one better next season.

On Sunday 16 March 2025 in the Wessex League Quarter-final against West Berks there was victory for our Dorchester A team 83-55 and now face St.Andrews IBC in the semi final at Loddon Vale IBC on the 23 March 2025 at 11am.  At Dorchester the rink skipped by Martin Puckett won 24-10 against the West Berks rink skipped by A Aubrey, while the rink skipped by George Spracklen won 23-11 against the West Berks rink skipped by D Parsonson. At West Berks the rink skipped by Jamie Watkiss drew 20-20 with the West Berks rink skipped by B Harris and the rink skipped by Ged Costello  won 16-14 against the West Berks rink skipped by M Powell.

On Sunday 9 March 2025 in the Wessex League last 16 Playoff Dorchester A came through against Atherley 82-64 and will now face West Berks in the Quarter-Finals on Sunday 16 March 2025.  At Dorchester the rink skipped by Martin Puckett won 21-16 against the Atherley rink skipped by Chris Kane, while the rink skipped by Martin Pavey won 21-12 against the Atherley rink skipped by Mick Barrett. At Atherley  the rink skipped by Jamie Watkiss drew 20-20 with the Atherley rink skipped by Adam White and the rink skipped by George Spracklen  won 20-16 against the Atherley rink skipped by Kevin Smith.

Dorchester A progressed  to the Wessex League Playoffs with a 13-3 victory over Moonfleet A in their Jurassic Region Wessex League game on Sunday 23 February 2025. At Dorchester the rink skipped by Steve Turner won 19 - 9 to the Moonfleet A rink skipped by Mike Gale, while the rink skipped by George Spracklen had a 20-20 draw with the Moonfleet A rink skipped by Warren Smith. At Moonfleet the rink skipped by Jamie Lockwood ran out 23-11 winners over the Moonfleet A rink skipped by Derek Devonald-Batt and the rink skipped by Martin Pavey lost 8-22 to the Moonfleet A rink skipped by Dan Steadman.

Dorchester B completed their League season with a 2-14 defeat against Ilminster BC in their Jurassic Region Wessex League game on Sunday 23 February 2025. At Dorchester the rink skipped by Mike Stone lost 5-36 to the Ilminster BC rink skipped by James Amery, while the rink skipped by Lee Ford had a 14-13 win over the Ilminster BC rink skipped by Carl Brooks. At Ilminster the rink skipped by Dean Ballard lost 14-26 to the Ilminster BC rink skipped by Dan Winmill and the rink skipped by Les Selby lost 9-21 to the Ilminster BC rink skipped by Ian Lightfoot.

At Dorchester the rink skipped by Ryan Nash won 13 - 9 to the Ilminster rink skipped by Jason Miles, while the rink skipped by Jamie Watkiss  had a 37-12 win over the Ilminster rink skipped by Will Anderson. At Dorchester the rink skipped by George Spracklen (with Graham Cockett, James Roe and Harry Hovenden) won  36 - 7 to the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Steve Wilson, while the rink skipped by Jamie Watkiss (with Steve Turner, Geoff Ellis and Steve Barrett) had a 29-3 win over the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Colin Poulter. At Moonfleet the rink skipped by Martin Pavey (with Mick Durant, Steve Willsher and Brian Paulson) ran out 19-16 winners over the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Philip Emeny and the rink skipped by Ged Costello (with Keith Wyman, Richard Toone and Lee Edwards) had a 17-11 win over the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Colin Chatburn.

2023/2024

Dorchester A's progress came to an end in the quarter finals with a 70-87 defeat to Erewash IBC on Sunday 10 March 2024 at Westlecot IBC. The rink skipped by Ged Costello (with Jamie Watkiss, Steve Barrett and George Aslett) lost 11-32 to the Erewash rink skipped by A Blackler, while the rink skipped by Ryan Nash(with Colin Gifford, Mick Durant, and Keith Wyman) lost 22-24 to the Erewash rink skipped by A Fletcher. The rink skipped by Martin Puckett (with Martin Pavey, Graham Cockett and Steve Willsher) won 21-17 over the Erewash rink skipped by J Bowley and the rink skipped by Jamie Lockwood(with George Spracklen, Phil Hallett and James Roe) won 16-14 over the Erewash rink skipped by B Bywater.  A big thank you to all the players who turned for the team throughout the season.

Dorchester A progressed  to the quarter finals with a 91-47 victory over Loddon Vale in their Wessex League playoff on Sunday 10 March 2024. At Loddon Vale the rink skipped by Ged Costello (with Jamie Watkiss, Steve Barrett and George Aslett) had a 24-12 win over the Loddon Vale rink skipped by Geoff Green, while the rink skipped by Ryan Nash(with Colin Gifford, Mick Durant, and Keith Wyman) had a 23-14 win over the Loddon Vale rink skipped by Gary Lovett. In Dorchester the rink skipped by Martin Puckett (with Martin Pavey, Graham Cockett and Brian Paulson) ran out comfortable 33-6 winners over the Loddon Vale rink skipped by Steve Shaw and the rink skipped by George Spracklen (with Steve Lambert-Culling, Phil Hallett and James Roe) went down to a 11-15 defeat by the Loddon Vale rink skipped by Trevor Morgan.  Dorchester A now progress to the quarter finals on Sunday 17 March 2024 against Erewash IBC.

A weaken Dorchester A went down to a 2-14 defeat against a strong Ilminster team in their Jurassic Region Wessex League game on Sunday 4 February 2024. At Dorchester the rink skipped by Jamie Lockwood (with Phil Hallett, Dave Tremlin and Brian Paulson) had a  16-20 loss to the Ilminster rink skipped by Levi Hembrow, while the rink skipped by Martin Pavey (with Ron McCarthy, Steve Barret and Lee Edwards) were overpowered 6-34 by  the Ilminster rink skipped by Jamie Chesney. At Ilminster the rink skipped by Colin Gifford (with Mick Durant, George Aslett and Jamie Watkiss) lost 15-35 to the Ilminster rink skipped by James Amory and the rink skipped by Ged Costello, (with Graham Cockett, Keith Wyman and Richard Toone) had a 16-14 win over the Ilminster rink skipped by Louis Ridout.

In Dorchester the rink skipped by Martin Pavey (with Colin Gifford, Dave Tremlin and John Hill) ran out comfortable 17-10 winners over the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Colin Chatburn and the rink skipped by George Spracklen (with Roger Nicholas, Steve Barrett and Mike Porter) had a 27-14 win over the Moonfleet rink skipped by Pat Rod.

On Sunday 5 November 2023 Dorchester A beat Dorchester B on all 4 rinks to record a 16-0 victory.

2022/2023

In the Quarterfinals Dorchester A  lost to Welford on Avon IBC  (60-95) on Saturday 18 March 2023 at 10:00 at the neutral venue of Cotswold IBC in Stroud.  Full report to follow.

On Sunday 12 March 2023  Dorchester men beat Chawton Park Indoor Bowls Club  (100-60) in the last 16 of the Wessex League Playoffs. Live scoring from the game available via the following link here. In Dorchester the rink skipped by Steve Lambert-Culling (with Colin Gifford, John Hill and Keith Wyman) ran out 23-22 winners over the Moonfleet A rink skipped by Mike Gale and the rink skipped by George Spracklen (with Phil Hallett, Dave Tremlin and Lee Edwards) had a 21-13 win over the Moonfleet rink skipped by Kelvin Churchill. 
Dorchester B lost to Ilminster 0-16 (47-105).

At Moonfleet the rink skipped by Jamie Lockwood (with Mick Durant, Keith Wyman and Richard Toone) had a  21-16 win over the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Derek Spicer, while the rink skipped by Ged Costello (with Roger Nicholas, Steve Barrett and Brian Paulson) had a 24-15 win over the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Andy Short. In Dorchester the rink skipped by Steve Lambert-Culling (with Colin Gifford, Dave Tremlin and John Hill) ran out comfortable 30-9 winners over the Moonfleet B rink skipped by Kelvin Churchill and the rink skipped by Martin Pavey (with Jamie Watkiss, Gareth Thomas and Steve Willsher) had a 29-11 win over the Moonfleet rink skipped by Mike Smith. 

2021/2022

The Dorchester run in the Wessex League came an end on Sunday after a battling campaign, underpinned by a great team spirit, which saw the team finish 2nd in the Jurassic Region and progress to the quarter finals.  These results along with the team's impressive run in the Denny Cup bodes well for the future. 

Dorchester A lost the Wessex League Playoff quarterfinal  51-86 to a strong Clarrie Dunbar team on Sunday 20th March 2022. At Clarrie Dunbar the rink skipped by Martin Pavey (with Colin Gifford, Dave Tremlin and Dave Joslin) lost to the Clarrie Dunbar rink skipped by Andrew Colebrooke, while the rink skipped Ged Costello (with Steve Turner, Phil Hallett and Geoff Ellis) lost to the Clarrie Dunbar rink skipped by Russell Francis. At Dorchester the rink skipped by Martin Puckett (with Mike Durant, Gareth Thomas and Richard Toone) lost to the Clarrie Dunbar rink skipped by Graham Shadwell and the rink skipped by George Spracklen (with Roger Nicholas, Steve Willsher and Phil Lannon) lost to the Clarrie Dunbar rink skipped by Dale Taylor.  Good luck to Clarrie Dunbar who now face Leicester in the semifinals on Sunday 27th March 2022, the full draw is available on the Wessex League website.

Wessex League 

Dorchester A progressed to the Wessex League Playoff quarterfinals with a 88-85 victory over Bournemouth in their last 16 Wessex League Playoff game on Sunday 13th March 2022. At Dorchester the rink skipped by Nick Voss (with Colin Gifford, Dave Tremlin and Darren Nutman) had a  win over the Bournemouth rink skipped by Lee Croad, while the rink skipped by George Spracklen (with Roger Nicholas, Steve Willsher and Brian Paulson) had a  win over the Bournemouth rink skipped by Clive Bunford. In Bournemouth the rink skipped by Martin Puckett (with Martin Pavey, Gareth Thomas and Richard Toone) were winners over the Bournemouth rink skipped by Alan Geary and the rink skipped by Ged Costello (with Steve Turner, Geoff Ellis and Clive Matthews) had a loss to the Bournemouth rink skipped by Chris Daniels.  The team now face Clarrie Dunbar in the quarterfinals on Sunday 20th March 2022.

Wessex League

Dorchester A progressed to the Wessex League play-offs with a 16-0 victory over Moonfleet in their last Jurassic Region Wessex League game on Sunday 27th February 2022. At Moonfleet the rink skipped by Martin Pavey (with Phil Hallett, Dave Tremlin and Dave Glanville) had a narrow 27-24 win over the Moonfleet rink skipped by Derek Devonald-Batt, while the rink skipped by Ged Costello (with Steve Turner, Gareth Thomas and Clive Matthews) had a comfortable 19-12 win over the Moonfleet rink skipped by Warren Smith. In Dorchester the rink skipped by Nick Voss (with Colin Gifford, Phil Lannon and Dave Joslin) turned around a 10 end 6-10 deficit to run out comfortable 22-10 winners over the Moonfleet rink skipped by Ryan Nash and the rink skipped by George Spracklen (with Roger Nicholas, John Hill and Brian Paulson) had a narrow 16-13 win over the Moonfleet rink skipped by Mike Gale.
