About the Bowls Club

Dorchester Bowls Club is a premier bowls club in Dorset and has a reputation for giving a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors as well as past and present members. It is located at the Sandringham Sports Centre off Armada Way in Dorchester, only eight miles from Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The Club provides six indoor rinks and an outside green which can accommodate up to eight rinks.

The Club was formed as the Dorchester Bowling Club at the Borough Gardens in 1906 with a restricted outdoor facility of only three rinks. The Club moved to its present location at the Sandringham Sports Centre in Armada Way in 1990. In 2006 it changed its name to Dorchester Bowls Club and its centenary was marked with a special Celebration Game against the English Bowling Association.

The Club premises include a lounge area served by a well stocked bar and a kitchen together with meeting rooms located on the first floor off the lounge and the changing rooms in the bowling hall. The Club have the use of a large car park.

The Club has an active Junior Section and a Qualified Coaching Squad who are available for both new and improving members. Open Days are held at least twice a year when new members are enrolled to help to maintain a membership level at around the three hundred and fifty mark.
