On Sunday the 23rd August around 70 members attended our President, Colin Lawley’s, fundraising day.
The theme this year was Cops and Robbers – a reference to Colin’s career as a Solicitor.
His chosen charity this year being Cancer Research UK.
We were joined by the Dorchester Town Mayor and Mayoress, Les and Julie Fry
Teams representing Cops or Robbers played matches both indoors and outdoors.
Some club members decided to dress according to their team allocations.
Despite the scores being a close run thing, the Cops (rightfully?) came out on top.
Two lucky members were awarded prizes for their ‘dressing up’ efforts!
Everyone enjoyed a very tasty buffet, created for us by the Coastland College.
The day ended with the customary raffle of prizes, some more desirable than others!
Whilst most prizes were donated by the members themselves, we were very grateful for some additional prizes given to us by Dorchester Timber, Howdens (Dorchester) and Travis Perkins (Dorchester).
Once all the monies had been counted we were pleased to present Colin with a donation of ยฃ434.
An excellent afternoon was had by all!!!
