This year we opened the club over the 5 days between Christmas and New Year ’s Day.
Many members dropped in, for a chat or a roll up, whilst some brought along their children and grandchildren, who had a lovely time trying out bowls for the first time.
A merry band of volunteers manned the kitchen serving up Bacon Rolls, various Homemade soup’s and Jacket potatoes.
Other members kept the scores on the 3 rinks of ‘Bowls Challenge’ type games.
The winners in each section are shown below. There will be small prizes!
| Skill Level | Name | Score |
| Better Bowlers | Hannah Edwards Lee Edwards | 155 |
| Club Bowlers | Pat Bickel | 165 |
| Guests | Amelie Collins | 65 |
We have to also thank the bar persons who came in over the period to provide ‘fortified’ beverages!
Vicki Edwards (ably assisted by Lee and Hannah) organised a ‘Rinks’ tournament, that was eventually oversubscribed. Teams were made up of selected Skips – based on their bowls ability, whilst the rest of each team was drawn from the pool. By all accounts it was a roaring success, with calls for more of the same…
The winning team was Sue Lofthouse, Hannah Edwards, Eileen Plant & Martin Pavey.
Finally, the last event of the year was a N.Y.E social get together & Quiz organised by Eileen & Geoff Plant assisted by Jenny & Marlyn and others. I am led to believe more than 30 people attended.
Well done everybody!
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2026
